FOX 11's Buehler wins AP award

GREEN BAY - It was a big weekend for FOX 11 News Director Juli Buehler.

She received the Carol Brewer Award from the Wisconsin Associated Press. It recognizes a career of outstanding service to broadcast journalism in Wisconsin. Buehler received the award at the annual Associated Press banquet Saturday night at the Lambeau Field Atrium.

One of the messages she sent during her speech: embrace technology.

Buehler was nominated by FOX 11 Assistant News Director Bill Kiefer.

In giving the 2010 award to Buehler, the Associated Press wrote,

Juli Buehler's passion for the news industry is evident in her leadership of the news department at Green Bay's FOX station, according to her colleagues.

Buehler blends humor with professionalism in her role as news director. Embracing change in how news is delivered, she has led the newsroom into the world of mulit-platform content delivery systems and played a key role in the expansion and redesign of WLUK's newsroom.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire under the tutelage of 1990 Carol Brewer award winner Henry Lippold, Buehler landed a job at WFHR/WWRW radio in Wisconsin Rapids. her next stops were at WEAU-TV in Eau Claire and KTTC-TV in Rochester, Minn., before taking a job as a producer at WLUK-TV. She returned to the station as executive producer after working for WTNH-TV in New haven, Conn. She was then promoted to news directors at WLUK.

Buehler has served on the Wisconsin Broadcasters Associations's board of directors and a treasurer and secretary. She's also longtime member of the Wisconsin Associated Press Executive Committee.

She and her husband, Robert Dennis, have three children, Thurgood, Gus and Micah.

The Carol Brewer Award has been given since 1982. FOX 11's Tom Milbourn won the award last year.
