GREEN BAY - Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton told FOX 11 Friday she accepted an apology from WTAQ radio talk show host Jerry Bader.

The Friday post on Bader’s blog reads, “Update from Jerry: After several attempts yesterday and this morning to contact Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton to personally apologize, I was contacted by a representative of her office this morning and was told that she accepts the apology I posted on this blog yesterday, and she hopes ‘this can be the end of it.’”

Lawton told FOX 11 she hoped the apology would be the end of the story.

Bader came under fire earlier this week when he posted a story on the station’s Web site claiming Lawton dropped out of the 2010 governor’s race because she was having an extramarital affair, which was about to be exposed. Lawton denied the report, which Bader has since retracted.

Thursday, station management suspended Bader for two weeks and said his future status would be determined after that. Lawton called the suspension “inadequate.”
