MADISON (AP) - The state's lieutenant governor says she will run for governor now that Jim Doyle has decided against running for a third term.
Barbara Lawton, a former Green Bay resident, says she'll make a formal announcement later, probably in the next month.
Speaking on WTMJ radio Tuesday, Lawton says she didn't know in advance that Doyle wouldn't run again, so she's just getting her team organized.
Lawton says her priority is to "reset" the economy. She says Gov. Doyle gave her "space" to create her own agenda and she has been working to help state businesses get their "fair share" of federal stimulus funding.
