A Manitowoc native and Lawrence University graduate has been nominated for an Emmy award.

Garth Neustadter is among five nominees for original dramatic score in the Outstanding Music Composition category. The nomination is for his work on the documentary “John Muir in the New World,” which aired on PBS in April. The documentary on Muir, a naturalist, author and scientist who grew up in Wisconsin, was written, produced and directed by another Lawrence alumna, Catherine Tate.

Neustadter graduated from Lawrence in 2010 with a music degree. He is currently studying music at the postgraduate level at Yale University.

The Emmy Awards will be aired live Sept. 18 on FOX 11.
