Here are some things you need to think about if you are spending time outside, in these frigid temps.

Dr. Anshu Luthar from Bellin Health joined Good Day Wisconsin and offered some great advice.

Click on the video to the left to see her interview.

Dr. Luthar shares these tips:

The first signs of frostbite
*Numbness and tingling in feet, hands and face
*Severe pain and lack of sensation
*In severe cases this can lead to gangrene which can happen in a matter of minutes if the temp it low

Ways to prevent
*Bundle up and layer
*Don't stay outside for long periods of time.

Ways to handle this at home
*First thing, get out of the cold
*Drink warm fluids
*Cover with warm bandages
*Don't rub your hands, could do more damage to tissue
*Soak in WARM water, not hot
