Higgins Hints: Apple creates a new social network

Ping is Apple's new social network.  It's integrated into iTunes10.  You can use Ping just like Facebook or MySpace; but in addition you can list your favorite music as well as the latest songs you've downloaded on iTunes.  The best feature I found with Ping is the ability to follow your favorite music artists.  This service just started last week so the list of famous singers is thin.  I did find a favorite of mine by the name of  Jack Johnson.  I followed Jack and was able to see a video clip showing him singing back stage with Steve Miller, very cool!  Ping says it will notify you if any artist you are following is planning a concert in your area.  If you bought tickets to a concert Ping also claims it will let you know if any of your friends are going to the same concert.  Obviously this is a service built around selling you music through iTunes, but the music lovers should really enjoy it.  I question how many social networks people can fit  into their busy life.  Will you drop your Facebook or MySpace accounts to add Ping?  Take Ping for a spin and let me know what you think about it.
