CLINTON - A Rock County man is taking his love for the Packers to the streets! People may know 58-year-old Mark Madson by his nickname, "Mad Man."
You could say he's the kind of guy who does things a little outside the box.
He has combined his passion for cars and the Packers to create something pretty special.
"This is my 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz, it's the last of the biggest and best Cadillacs," said Madson.
Madson decided to build the Packer Mobile...well, just because he felt like it.
"My philosophy on life is upside down and backwards is actually frontwards; so if everyone is hitching and going that way, I want to be going that way," said Madson.
He prefers to drive the topless convertible only in the winter.
"The first time I drove the car, I froze my butt off."
But he wouldn't have it any other way.
"It's not as much fun driving it in the summer as it is in the winter."
As you can imagine, seeing Madson drive the Packer Mobile through town in the dead of winter is quite the head-turner.
"The cops are stopping me all the time 'cause they think I'm intoxicated and so I go 'don't you need probably cause to stop me?' and he goes 'you're driving a topless car when it's 10 degrees, that's probable cause!"
He bought the car a couple years ago for $1,500.
"Cars are my passion, I have six different cars."
It took him just two weeks to turn it into what it is today.
"I kinda change cars like most people change clothes."
And the "Mad Man" has big plans for his pride and joy.
"We're planning on driving it to Dallas for the Super Bowl is what we want to do," said Madson.
Equipped with an electric blanket and an aerodynamic design to keep the cold air out, Madson says he stays warm behind the wheel.
He doesn't think he'll take the car to Chicago for this weekend's NFC Championship Game because he says the car is kind of "in your face" and he doesn't want to offend any Bears fans.
