Friday Fitness: Work out in fashion

GREEN BAY - Friday Fitness is all about work out fashion and how to make your gym trips more pleasant and efficient.

Rachel Manek checked in with Mel Tuomi, a personal trainer at the Howard YMCA, for some ideas to keep you comfortable.

For a yoga class, Mel says you should dress in layers and make sure clothes are tighter fitting so the instructor can see if you are doing the poses correctly.

In the gym, if you are just starting out, a comfy cotton shirt will work, but if you are going to up the intensity you should wear materials that will wick away the sweat.

Always wear appropriate footwear.  For example, wear running shoes for running.  Don't wear street shoes to the gym.

If you are cycling, make sure your shorts and pants are close fitting so they don't get caught in the gears.

Rachel's suggestion: wear running pants with a draw string so your pants or shorts don't fall down.
