Heart art using pennies

Want to say "I love you"? Use pennies to tell your loved ones how much you care.

If you're looking for a homemade gift for Valentine's Day, look no further than your change jar.  Using pennies, you can create a custom "love" sign.

Rachel purchased pre-cut wood letters from the craft store and covered them in copper paint.

She cleaned her pennies using a vinegar and salt solution.

She glued the pennies to the letters using a hot glue gun.

For the "O", use a heart.  You can use wood, or a stiff felt like Rachel used, or just cut one out of cardboard.

To make the roses, Rachel used felt.  You could also use paper.  For the "how to" watch this video from our Thrifty Crafter Kim Geiser.

Total cost for this project was just under $20.   ($3.36 in pennies!)
