SUAMICO - The Canada lynx at the NEW Zoo in Suamico are enjoying the snow from Winter Storm Denise.
The zoo has two lynx. They arrived nearly 4 years ago from a private breeder in Minnesota.
Zoo director Neil Anderson says the Canada lynx are built for the heavy snow. They have longer legs than the bobcat. Lynx also have paws that are like built-in snowshoes. They have fur on the soles of their feet.
The differences mean that the Canada lynx is able to hunt in deep snow, and avoid competition for prey with bobcats and coyotes.
