Suamico - The Canada lynx are enjoying the winter and snow at the NEW Zoo in Suamico.
The zoo has two lynx named Carson and Lucy.
Lynx typically weigh about 20 pounds. They are built for winter and snowy conditions. Their feet are like snowshoes, and the cats can spread out their toes to walk across deep snow.
Lynx are similar to bobcats, but lynx have tufts on their ears. Scientists are not sure what the tufts are for. Lynx are taller than bobcats and can carry more weight.
Unlike bobcats, lynx have back legs that are longer than their front legs. That feature allows lynx to pounce on their prey.
Lynx are usually found in Canada and Alaska, but have occasionally been found in Wisconsin.
