SUAMICO - Neil Anderson gives us an update on the cotton top tamarins at the NEW Zoo in Suamico.

Tamarins are native to Colombia. They are a highly-endangered animal, with only about 2,000 left in the wild. Anderson estimates there are another 1,800 in zoos worldwide.

The NEW Zoo has 6 cotton top tamarins, including a set of twins born in August, and two other siblings born in December of 2010.

The zoo is preparing to move the tamarins to a new exhibit. They will have more than triple the amount of space as the current exhibit, and they will be able to watch the sunset every day.

Neil also showed us the black neck stilts, which are a kind of bird with long legs. They actually have the second longest legs in proportion to their bodies, they are exceeded only by the flamingo.
