Suamico - The NEW Zoo in Suamico has three red pandas right now. The species is endangered, with less than 2,500 left in the world.

There are two different subspecies of red panda. Of the type of red panda at the NEW Zoo, only 59 of them are found in 20 different zoos in the U.S.

As part of the recommendations under the endangered species program, the NEW Zoo will try to breed Tae-bo and Leafa once again this year. Leafa gave birth to a boy cub last year, named Rinzen.

Also as part of the program, Rinzen will be going to the Columbus Zoo this spring.
