Ingredients:
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
3 cloves garlic, chopped
2 teaspoons fresh ginger, finely chopped or grated
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup beef stock
1 pound flank or sirloin steak, sliced into thin strips
4 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil, divided
1 pound fresh broccoli florets
1 red pepper, sliced into thin strips
2 scallions chopped
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
Hot cooked rice
Directions:
Whisk together the soy sauce, honey, garlic and ginger. Pour half of the soy sauce mixture over the steak and let marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes or overnight. Cover and refrigerate reserved sauce. Whisk the cornstarch and water together and add to the reserved soy sauce mixture. Remove beef from marinade and pat dry. Heat 2 tablespoons vegetable or canola oil a wok or large sauté pan over high heat and add the beef. Cook beef for a couple minutes on each side and remove to a plate. Add the remaining vegetable or canola oil to the pan and cook the broccoli and peppers for about 2 minutes. Add the beef back into the pan along with the sauce. Cook until the sauce is thick and everything is heated through, about 2 minutes. Add sesame oil and toss to coat. Serve beef and veggies over rice with chopped scallions and sesame seeds on top.
