Ingredients:
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup finely diced onion
2 to 4 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
1 (28 ounce) can tomato puree
1 tablespoon sugar
Salt and pepper
1/4 cup dry white or red wine (optional)
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil (optional)
Directions:
Heat oil in large pan over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring until tender, 5 to 6 minutes. Add garlic and cook another 30 seconds, stirring often. Add italian seasonings. Add tomatoes with juice, sugar and wine. Season with some salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Stir in basil if desired.
