Recipe from Lindsay Brooks.
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
Pinch salt
3 oz unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
3/4 cup chocolate chips
1 tsp almond extract
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 egg
Sugar for dusting the top
Directions:
Combined all dry ingredients including chocolate in a food processor. Add butter and pulse until butter is pea size. Transfer to a large mixing bowl. Beat egg with almond extract and buttermilk. Fold into flour mixture until just combined. Turn out onto a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Flatten into a 2" thick circle. Brush top with egg wash and dust with sugar. Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes, until center is dry. Enjoy warm with butter.
