Holiday Cranberry Cake

Cake:

1 1/2 cups sugar

Pinch of salt

4 1/2 tablespoons butter, melted

3 cups flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 1/2 cups milk

3 cups cranberries

Rum Sauce:

1 cup sugar

1 pint whipping cream

1 stick butter

1 teaspoon rum flavoring

Directions:

Stir sugar, salt, butter, flour and baking powder together and add milk.  Then stir in cranberries.  Grease and flour two pie tins.  Pour half of the batter into each tin.  Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

To make the sauce, melt and simmer sugar, whipping cream and butter for 8 minutes.  Then add rum flavoring.  After the cakes are cool, cut in pie slices and ladel rum sauce over top right before serving.
