Recipe from Village Green Lodge.
Ingredients:
3 large onions chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tube- 1.6 ounces of anchovy paste
1 29 ounce can tomato puree
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sugar
2 large French breads cut in half and sliced horizontally
Olive oil
1 cup bread crumbs
Grated Italian Cheese
Oregano
Pepperoni
Directions:
Simmer onions in olive oil. Add anchovies, stirring until they melt. Add tomato puree, salt, oregano, garlic powder and sugar. Simmer about 45 minutes.
Brush olive oil on French bread halves. Sprinkle with thin coat of bread crumbs. Spread on sauce- thick. Top with grated cheese and sprinkle with oregano. Top with pepperoni if desired.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Slice and serve.
