OSHKOSH - Oshkosh Corporation reported Tuesday losing $1.1 billion in fiscal 2009.

The vehicle manufacturer had strong sales in defense, but says weakness in its access equipment and commercial segments led to the figures.

Company officials say going into fiscal 2010 they will make improvements that they believe will lead to further debt reduction.

"We expect to be solidly profitable in fiscal 2010, led by significant revenue growth in our defense business, which should more than offset anticipated low demand at our construction-related businesses," said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer.

Oshkosh Corporation reported a net income of $79.3 million in fiscal 2008.
