A flu-like illness wasn’t enough to cancel a varsity high school football game against Ashwaubenon and Green Bay East.
The game originally slated for Friday night will now take place on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Goelz Field in Ashwaubenon.
On Wednesday, the Ashwaubenon School District announced it was forced to forfeit the game after cancelling school on Thursday and Friday. That call was made because 41-percent of students were absent.
According to WIAA guidelines, regular season games affected by school closure can be rescheduled, while WIAA tournament series games cannot.
Ashwaubenon district officials waited to make the announcement until they could get a clarification from the WIAA and clearance from health officials.
