BROWN COUNTY - More than $10.6 million has been approved for projects at Austin Straubel International Airport in the Green Bay area.
On Tuesday, Governor Jim Doyle approved $2.5 million in state funds to build a new snow removal equipment building and a sand storage building. Brown County is contributing $1.9 to the project while the Federal Aviation Administration is giving $6.1 million.
The project is slated to begin in October and should take a year to complete.
There are 115 aircraft based at Austin Straubel, and
approximately 70,500 take-offs and landings each year.
