Children’s Museum receives $15,000

GREEN BAY - Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt presented a $15,000 donation Wednesday to the yet to be built Children's Museum.

It comes from the Yahoo! Sports Mayoral Face-off Fantasy Football League.

12 mayors are taking part in the online competition.

Green Bay won the civic pride portion of the contest, where the public voted for their favorite city. Green Bay received more than 40% of the vote.

Schmitt says the community’s support will help the project break ground this year.

“It’s been a long time coming. And we feel very confident that we will be standing in the Children’s Museum next year at this time,” said Schmitt.

If Mayor Schmitt wins the fantasy football competition, the city will be awarded another $15,000. Schmitt's team is currently in ninth place with a 1-2-1 record.

On a side note, the Children’s Museum received another $116,000 on Friday. That money was raised during the Grand Gala hosted by Merrill Lynch.
