Milwaukee - Ads like this will start airing on radio and television just days from now.
Their message...emergency contraception is ok for Catholics to use.
They may have heard differently from the hierarchy and they may have heard differently from their parish priest and were here to let them know that they are not alone and that you can be a good catholic and use contraception.
The group is called young Catholics for choice.
In a news conference it announced that it has partnered with Wisconsin based family planning health services to come up with the ads that advocate having the morning after pill on hand even before you need it.
It’s an important message that needs to get out.
The group realizes that its message may be controversial because it goes against catholic doctrine.
I’m sure there will be some conservative voices out there that will not agree with that we are saying in these ads and were not speaking to them. We’re speaking to the vast majority of Catholics that use contraception and are supportive of emergency contraception and use that as well.
Milwaukee’s new archbishop says there is no room for interpretation on the church's stance on the issue of choice.
To say that you're a catholic that's embracing a position of choice denies an inherent aspect and that inherent aspect is the dignity of that human individual right from the very moment of conception and that strike at odds with the churches teachings.
Still other Catholics not affiliated with young Catholics for choice say they understand the group’s messages in a time like this.
I think that there are a lot of young men and women today that are getting themselves into trouble by not planning child birth properly and it's resulting in a lot of unwanted births and it ruins lives.
