STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) - The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association has approved a $7.9 million operations budget for 2009-10.
The WIAA says the budget recently passed by the board of control reflects a growth in projected income in regional soccer, lower level football playoffs and state track and field ticket prices.
The WIAA says its expenses went up for insurance premiums, legal fees, capital expenditures, building maintenance and the planned move of the State Girls Basketball Tournament to the Kohl Center in Madison.
The WIAA is the organizing athletic body for 507 senior high schools and 98 junior high and middle schools in the state and sponsors 25 championship tournaments this academic year.
