Gov. Jim Doyle has a private 30-minute meeting planned with President Barack Obama in the White House on Thursday.
Doyle's also scheduled to meet with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat from California, Obama's political director Patrick Gaspard and Obama's senior adviser David Axelrod.
His meeting with Axelrod and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is scheduled to focus on the health care proposals being debated in Congress.
The meetings come as Democrats in Wisconsin search for a candidate for governor next year. Doyle has decided against running and pressure is building for Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett to get in.
Doyle is also meeting with Wisconsin Congressman Dave Obey and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to talk about health care.
