MADISON, Wis. (AP) - There will be at least three debates between the candidates for governor this fall.
Democrat Tom Barrett and the two Republicans seeking the nomination, Scott Walker and Mark Neumann, have already agreed to the debates. They would take place Sept. 24 and Oct. 15 in Milwaukee and Oct. 29 in Madison.
Barrett on Monday called on both Walker and Neumann to agree to four more debates around the state in Wausau, the Fox Valley region, northern Wisconsin and western Wisconsin.
Walker's campaign called the request a publicity stunt. Neumann's campaign ignored the request and instead said Neumann was committed to talking directly with voters.
Walker and Neumann square off in the primary on Sept. 14. Barrett faces only token opposition.
