MADISON (AP) - A Wisconsin group says the average price for a home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner is less than the cost of many fast-food value meals.
The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation takes an annual price survey of traditional items such as turkey, stuffing, cranberries and pumpkin pie. This year, the total price for a family of 10 in Wisconsin averages out to $45.26. That's about $4.50 per person.
That figure is a little higher than the national average, which is about $4.35 per person.
The federation says that's because a 16-pound turkey in Wisconsin costs a little over $20, while the national average is a bit under $18.
However, items such as milk, rolls and green peas are a little cheaper in Wisconsin.
