PRAIRIE DU SAC, Wis. (AP) - They are going to throw some cow poop around this weekend in south central Wisconsin.

It's for the Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw in Prairie du Sac, which is in its 36th year.

Area business get their own competition Friday night, with children competing on Saturday morning and adults launching them on Saturday afternoon.

Organizer Russell Ballweg says about 120 men and 80 women usually participate, with the current record being 248 feet. The winner gets a trophy and a chance to attend the national competition in Beaver, Okla.

Ballweg says organizers pick up cow pies from a nearby farm two months before and then let the sun dry them out. In order to be in throwing shape, they have to be six inches in diameter.
