MANITOWOC - Ambrose Greaves appeared in Manitowoc County Circuit Court for a bond hearing Wednesday morning. He is the suspect in the murder of his wife, Miki.
No charges were filed; he was booked into the jail on requested charges of hiding a corpse. Bond was set at $250,000 cash, according to the Clerk of Courts office.
An initial appearance is set for Monday afternoon, at which time charges are expected to be filed.
Manitowoc Sheriff Robert Hermann tells FOX 11 that it is unknown whether Ambrose Greaves is a United States citizen. He is originally from the island of Barbados, and FOX 11 has learned police have contacted immigration services to investigate his citizenship status.
Miki Greaves' body was found by hunters on Saturday morning in rural Manitowoc County.
According to search warrants, when investigators arrived, they found a Menard's receipt at the scene.
It was time stamped 1:44 p.m. on Friday November 20. The items
purchased were duct tape, a utility knife and weed killer. A
Menards employee at the Ashwaubenon store later told police that a
man matching Ambrose Greaves' description had purchased those
items.
Miki Greaves was reported missing later that afternoon. She
was supposed to pick her daughter up from a babysitter after work
at 2 p.m., but never showed up.
The babysitter told police the family only has one car, and that
Miki would come over after she was picked up from her job at
Associated Bank. The bank is less than a half a mile from Menards.
Several hours later, Ambrose Greaves drove the family's car
off of I-43.
Police say he had stab wounds to his chest. Investigators found
a bloody knife in the van. They also reported seeing a large amount
of blood on both the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle.
Police say they couple was in the process of going through a
divorce. Manitowoc County investigators say they are also looking
into whether that would have had any impact on Ambrose Greaves'
citizenship status.
