GRAND CHUTE - Grand Chute police have released more surveillance video of the man they believe posed as an Appleton police officer and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl at the Fox River Mall.

The video shows the man, who appears to be in his 30s, turning around and walking back into the Target store on the mall’s east side.

Police said two 13-year-old girls were shopping at the mall March 10 when they noticed the man watching them. He allegedly identified himself as an Appleton police officer and accused one of the girls of shoplifting. Police said he then took one of the girls behind a dumpster where he sexually assaulted her.

Grand Chute police are also expanding their search for the suspect throughout the Midwest.

A Web site called Regional Information Sharing Systems will post pictures and video of the suspect for police departments and residents across the Midwest to see.

Sgt. Mike Velie said police are also handing out flyers to mall employees. The flyers have the suspect’s picture on them along with a description.

"Somebody out there knows him. Whether it's a friend or a family member or something, that's really who we're counting on to step forward," said Velie.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact the Grand Chute Police Dept. at (920) 832-1575 or the "We-Tip" hotline at 1-800 78-CRIME.
