MILTON, Wis. (AP) - A Rock County sheriff's deputy has been arrested and placed on administrative leave after the sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in Milton.
Rock County Chief Deputy Barb Tillman says Milton police received a report at 2:46 a.m. Sunday of the sexual assault at a party where underage drinkers were present.
The suspect was identified as a 38-year-old off-duty deputy from Janesville, who was immediately placed on leave and relieved of his weapons.
After further investigation, the deputy was arrested on Monday afternoon and taken to the Dane County Jail pending formal charges.
Tillman says in a news release that there will also be an internal investigation, and the sheriff's office will take all steps necessary to make sure that "justice is served."
