Wind gusts at 10 am are 48 mph in Green Bay; Appleton 49 mph, 37mph in Sturgeon Bay, 41 mph in Oshkosh. Gusts will could reach 50-60 mph at times today. The pressure in Green Bay is now under 29.00" which is very low. In fact this storm will rank in the top two lowest reading for the month of October. At 10 a.m. the barometric pressure is 28.84" and now starting to rise.
Windy is the weather story today as a major storm system is approaching the area from the southwest. We can expect sustained wind speeds of 25 to 40 mph today with gusts of 55 to 60 mph at times. These winds have the power to do damage to trees and lead to power outages. There is a High Wind Warning in effect through tomorrow evening. A reported tornado touched down near Racine this morning at about 8 am.
If you're heading to High School football playoff games tonight be prepared for the wind. At kick off the temperature will be near 52, mostly cloudy with Southwest winds at 30 to 40 mph and possible wind gusts of 40-50 mph; At game's end the temperature will be in the upper 40s with Southwest Winds of 30 mph.
