MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A Dane County sheriff's deputy is recovering after being injured when he was hit by a car he had pulled over on Saturday night.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports the deputy was taken to a Madison hospital with minor leg injuries.
The deputy's name was not immediately released.
Dane County Sheriff David Mahoney says it happened about 7:10 p.m. when the deputy stopped a vehicle because it didn't have a license plate.
The sheriff says the driver drove into the deputy, knocking him to the ground.
The deputy then fired two shots, with at least one striking the fleeing car.
Less than half an hour later, Madison police stopped a car matching the description of the suspect's vehicle and arrested the driver.
