GAZA CITY - More than 20 airstrikes pounded the Gaza Strip Wednesday, and a FOX 11 contributor is caught in the middle of it.
It's Israel's most intense attack on the territory in nearly four years.
Israel says the airstrikes are in response to days of heavy rocket fire from Gaza.
Officials say at least 10 Palestinians are dead.
FOX 11's medical expert Dr. Alan Cherkasky was in this area visiting his niece. He spoke with us Wednesday.
"This is reality, this is how these people live in the south of Israel, and you know, they conduct their everyday lives. The kids go to school... Who? Did you hear that? A boom right now as I'm talking to you,” said Cherkasky.
“So right now there’s another boom?” asked FOX 11.
“Right now, right now as I'm talking to you, I just heard a big boom,” he replied.
“Do you need to go?” asked FOX 11.
“Uh, yeah, I should probably, I should go, that's not a bad idea, I should get into the shelter,” said Cherkasky.
That shelter Dr. Al was referring to is a household bomb shelter.
