GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay Gamblers introduced a new "Bat Trick" promotion Tuesday, in response to the bat incident at the Resch Center on December 15th.
The incident refers to when a live bat was flying in the arena until two Gamblers players struck and killed the bat with their hockey sticks.
Starting with the December 31st game at the Resch Center, fans will be able to purchase a toy bat in the team store for $2. Fans may keep the bats or toss them onto the ice when the Gamblers score their first goal in any future game.
The bats that are thrown to the ice will be picked up and recycled to the team store where they will be re-sold.
100 percent of the proceeds from the bat sales will go to the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
