Stories of animal abuse and so-called "thrill killings" strike a chord whenever they're told.
And in our area, unfortunately, we've been no strangers to those kinds of incidents. Northeast Wisconsin has seen a couple cases of animal abuse over the past week.
The bodies of nearly 60 ducks were found along the Fond du Lac River last Tuesday. A snowmobiler from Fond du Lac has come forward admitting he ran the ducks over, but charges have yet to be filed.
Another disturbing incident of animal abuse was discovered recently in Waupaca County. Three men have been arrested for the torturing and killing of five deer on a snowmobile trail. DNR officials believe Nicholas Hermes and brothers Robby and Rory Kuenzi are responsible for the gruesome crime.
The deer torture case has been a hot topic of conversation on the radio and internet message boards.
It seems a lot of people are wondering, what could possibly be the motive behind such a crime?
Psychologist Frank Cummings joined Good Day Wisconsin Monday to talk about it.
