CHILTON - Calumet County plans to make prescription discount cards available to residents, the county announced Monday.
County leaders said the program would offer savings of about 22 percent off the retail price of commonly-prescribed drugs. The cards, which will be available June 1, will be honored at nine pharmacies in Calumet County and 60,000 nationwide. The cards will be offered through the National Association of Counties and administered through CVS Caremark. The program carries no cost to county taxpayers.
“The NACo prescription discount card will offer significant savings for the uninsured and underinsured residents of our county, and even those fortunate to have prescription coverage may use the card to save money on drugs that are not covered by their health plan,” county human services director Todd Romenesko said in a news release. “Residents do not have to be Medicare beneficiaries to be eligible for this program.”
County leaders are planning a future announcement to tell people how to obtain the cards.
