Green Bay - Martin Luther King Jr. Day might not be until Monday, but today community members gathered to honor his life and legacy.
The 18-th annual celebration took place at the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay.
There was food, song, and a diverse array of speakers. A group of Hmong dancers also performed.
This year's theme was "Advancing the Dream." Organizers say its important to celebrate those values that Dr. King stood for.
"This whole celebration is not just to celebrate a man's birthday, but also the dream that he stood for. What he was calling for, and what he has done," said Celebration Committee Co-chair Alem Asres.
Fox-11's Angela Kelly was today's emcee for the event.
