1 hurt in Appleton car crash

APPLETON - Appleton police say a 26-year-old Menasha man is in critical condition after a serious car crash in Appleton.

Police say they responded to a single-vehicle car crash around 5:00 Saturday morning on the 1900 block of Newberry Street.

Officers on the scene say the driver of the car was the only person inside.  He was taken to Theda Clark Medical Center.

A power pole was also badly damaged in the crash, leaving live wires on the ground.

Police barricaded the area.

Newberry St., between Schaefer and Lee streets were shut down for clean-up, but they have reopened.
