GREEN BAY - When it comes to the moves Packers General Manager Ted Thompson makes, fans always have an opinion.
“I wish they would have kept Havner,” said Pete Satriano of Chicago.
“I think they've put the right personnel in from who they have as they wait for others to get back into suit,” said John Fredrickson of Kenosha.
“I was surprised they got rid of Havner because of all the different roles he can play and I'm still surprised why Jarrett Bush is on this team,” said Ken Loftus of Milwaukee. “You can't tell me we can't find a better nickel back than Jarrett Bush.”
Talking with fans at Lambeau Field about the Packers cuts, they said the biggest surprise was tight end Spencer Havner. The same surprise was echoed on FOX 11's Facebook page.
Jeff wrote, “Spencer Havner was a team player...he should have been kept on the team.”
Fans also shared their frustration with some of the players the Packers chose to keep.
Kate wrote, “I'm kind of disappointed we kept Justin Harrell and Jarrett Bush...neither was beneficial to the team.”
Fans say it's hard to see some of the players go, but now they are just excited for the start of the regular season. Most fans expect big things from the green and gold this season.
“There's no way the Packers don't win the division,” said Satriano.
“I think they'll do as well as their secondary,” said Fredrickson.
“They are probably going to go to the Super Bowl,” said Quinton Skenaondore of Green Bay.
“I don't know if they are going to the Super Bowl, but I think they have a good team and it'll be a very interesting season,” said Loftus.
Now it's time for the games to begin and to see if the players that made the 2010 Packers team can play up to, what appears to be, high expectations.
The Packers start the season on September 13th at 3:15 pm in Philadelphia versus the Eagles. FOX 11 will broadcast the game.
