SHERWOOD - A 42-year-old man is dead after his off-road vehicle went through ice at the High Cliff State Park Marina Saturday.
Authorities identified the man as Chad E. Davis of Sherwood.
It happened around 1:45 p.m. off the shore of the marina on Lake Winnebago.
Officials say two off-road vehicles were on the ice when they encountered open water. The first vehicle was able to make it across the opening, but the second vehicle didn't make it. The man on the second vehicle ended up in the water and was under the ice for about an hour.
Authorities say the 42-year-old was unresponsive when he was recovered and was then flown to a hospital by Theda Star. He later died at the hospital.
The Calumet County Sheriff's Department says the man's name will be released at a later date.
