Hwy. 26 crash victim's name released
Road shut down for several hours

TOWN OF NEKIMI - UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Michael J. Smithson, 41, of Oshkosh. Our original report follows below:

Sheriff's officials are investigating whether icy roads may have led to a crash that killed one person in Winnebago County Tuesday morning.
Around 6:30 a.m., officials say a box truck headed north on Hwy. 26 in the town of Nekimi hit a car headed south. The driver of the car was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the truck was treated at the scene and released.
The crash shut down traffic on Hwy. 26 in the area of Cottonwood and County Z until about 11 a.m.
No names have been released.
