OSHKOSH - A sendoff ceremony will be held Saturday for approximately 130 members of a local Wisconsin Army National Guard unit.
The Oshkosh-based 1157th Transportation Company is preparing to deploy to the Middle East.
Guard officials say this weekend's ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the EAA's Eagle Hangar at 3000 Poberezny Rd. in Oshkosh.
Before being deployed, the soldiers will train for several weeks at Camp Shelby in Mississippi. From there the unit will head to the U.S. Central Command theater of operations. The 1157th was preparing to go to Kuwait, but to due to a forces being reassigned, the unit may be considered for other Central Command missions.
The ceremony for the 1157th is open to the public.
