APPLETON - Three people have been arrested in connection with the 2007 murder of Lara Plamann of Greenville.
The Outagamie Co. Sheriff's Dept. announced the arrests of Dianna M. Siveny, Kandi Marie Siveny and Rosie Oree Campbell Friday afternoon. However, very few details were released.
"They've worked countless hours around the clock, followed up on hundreds if not thousands of leads on this matter it's always been a priority for the staff here as well as Sheriff (Brad) Gerhing," explained Capt. Mike Jobe of the Outagamie County Sheriff's Dept during a press conference Friday.
It all started in October 2007. Plamann, 30, was shot twice. Her body was found sitting propped up in a chair in her garage.
Dianna Siveny, 53, was Plamann's partner and the two lived together. Siveny and her daughter Kandi have been under investigation in the case since at least 2009, when search warrant returns indicated a possible involvement.
In those warrants, investigators claimed Kandi Siveny offered a woman money to "commit a substantial battery to Lara Plamann." The woman went on to say it was because she was told Plamann was "mistreating and cheating on Kandi's Mom, (Dianna Siveny)." The woman refused to commit the battery and believed "Kandi (the daughter) continued looking for other people to commit the battery."
In 2010, Dianna Siveny was charged with trying to hire a man to beat up Plamann in 2006, one year before she was killed. Those charges were eventually dropped.
Dianna Siveny lives in Appleton, while Kandi Siveny and Campbell live in St. Paul, Minn.
So why the arrests now? Authorities won't say.
"We believe releasing any further details at this time will jeopardize the prosecutors' efforts, so we're simply unable to do so," Jobe said.
Plamann's family released the following statement Friday afternoon:
"We are pleased to hear of the arrests made in connection with Lara’s murder, but are well aware of the long road to justice ahead.
"The 5 years since Lara’s death have passed quickly, but also felt like an eternity with no real positive news until now.
"We’ve had our own theories as to what took place that evening, and these arrests have confirmed some of our suspicions.
"We’d like to thank the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department, investigators and the District Attorney’s office for the tremendous amount of hard work that has taken place over the years."
Dianna Siveny is in the Outagamie County Jail and is expected to be in court Monday morning. Jobe did not say where the other two were being held or when they might be in court.
