New London crossing guard injured

NEW LONDON - A New London crossing guard was injured while on the job.

Officials say Sally Tschurwald was hit by a vehicle Monday. She was at the intersection of Beacon Avenue and Lawrence Street when she was hit.

Officials say she was wearing a florescent yellow reflective traffic vest and was placing the crosswalk sign in the intersection when the accident happened.

Tschurwald is expected to recover.

The New London Police Department would like to remind people to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks.
