TOWN OF MENASHA - One man was arrested after a standoff in the town of Menasha Friday morning.
Police say they received a 911 call from the 1200 block of Burnette St. just after 5 a.m. No one was talking on the other end of the phone, so dispatchers tried to call back several times. Eventually, someone answered and told them there was a disturbance and that a 35-year-old man who lived at the house had a gun and was threatening to harm himself.
When police arrived, a woman who lived in the house was outside. She told them she was able to get out of the house, but that the man was inside and there was also a baby in the house.
Police could not reach the man inside the house, so they called out a SWAT team to help. They set up a command post at nearby Spring Road Elementary School.
Just after 9 a.m., the SWAT team got in touch with the man and he came outside and surrendered. He was arrested and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
