APPLETON - For the past 19 years, a picnic in the Fox Cities has been celebrating diversity; and on Saturday, people gathered at Erb Park in Appleton to do just that.
It was sponsored by the organization, "Toward Community: Unity in Diversity"
Organizers say it's good to have a free event that brings the community together.
"The annual picnic that we do is a more informal, laid back way for people of different ethnic backgrounds, racial backgrounds, religious backgrounds to be able to get together, relax, literally break bread together," said Prerna Kvalvik of the Toward Community organization.
In addition to the festivities, people were also encouraged to bring along an ethnic dish to share.
