Four Northeast Wisconsin colleges have been honored for their community service.
St. Norbert College, Lawrence University, Ripon College and Silver Lake College of the Holy Family were all named to the 2013 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll .
St. Norbert was the only Wisconsin school to make the "Honor Roll with Distinction" list. College leaders say students provided more than 36,000 hours of community service in the past year.
Lawrence officials say 989 students spent a total of more than 16,650 hours doing volunteer and service-learning programs in 2012. The university says its Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, Relay for Life and After-School Enrichment for Young Children in the Fox Cities were among the programs for which it was recognized.
A total of 13 Wisconsin colleges made the honor roll, including Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Editor's note: A previous version of this story did not include St. Norbert College's listing in the Honor Roll with Distinction list.
