APPLETON - Some people in the Fox Valley not only donated blood this weekend, but also helped fight hunger.
It's part of the first-ever "Fill the Pantry" event hosted by the Community Blood Center.
Blood donors who brought in food for the pantry were entered in a drawing to win a $100 grocery gift card.
All of the donated food items will go to the Salvation Army food pantry.
Organizers said this is one way to give back to the community.
"We wanted to find a way to help out around the holidays. We know that blood donors are such generous people, and we know that the food pantries are in need of blood donations, so this seemed like a win-win for everybody," said Angela Brumm with the Community Blood Center.
Organizers said they hope to make this an annual event.
