APPLETON - People in our area are raising money for families in Newtown, Connecticut through bowling!

Families at the Super Bowl of Appleton were there Saturday for more than just a perfect strike.

Adults and kids of all ages took part in the fun.

The Rough Riders motorcycle club organized the event.

Members say the Sandy Hook tragedy struck a chord with many in the organization.

"A lot of our members in our organization are parents, so it really hit home with them, especially when the children became involved. Nowadays, we see a lot of the negative things that happen in the community, and it's part of what the Rough Riders want to stop," said club member Amber Scheel.

Tickets for the one-day event were nine dollars.

Donations and lane sponsorships were also accepted.
